I am psyched - just diagnosed another problem over the phone.
2007 Ford Escape, my brother is trying to help the girl who owns it... idles fine until you put it in Drive, then it tries to stall. He's thinking timing chain jumped, bad motor mount, etc. Can't really figure it out. I start asking about other things... eventually come around to 'is it shifting funny?' She says "Oh yeah, it's been shifting 'clunky' and it come to think of it it pulls a lot at stoplights etc." Ding ding ding! I am sure the TCC clutch is engaged. Once I say that, everything else she has described as problems falls into place. All of it could easily be the TCC clutch locked on. Maybe a stuck actuator/solenoid or whatever, but at least now they all know what to go after!
Hope he gets something out of it!
